Stationed on USS Khabarovsk, Security Officer, just after an incident involving a dangerous encounter with the Romulans (See History). Rest of service record is sealed by Starfleet Intelligence six years prior to posting aboard USS Angelfire.
Special Abilities: Capable pilot. Extremely well versed in use of varied weapons systems, both shipboard and hand-to-hand. Esper-blind (immune to telepathic influence/probe). As a side effect, he is prone to strong premonitions, especially regarding romantic potential between others. He was regarded on the Khabarovsk as a good "matchmaker".
History: Born in Canberra, Australia on Earth, Kevin Hawke led an undistinguished childhood. He succeeded at his studies, but did not excel. He spent most of his free time flying anything he could qualify in. At age 18, he graduated a British secondary school and considered enrolling in Starfleet Academy in the Nova pilot program. Due, though, mostly to the fact that he was given a small Redoubtable-class yacht by his grandfather, he decided to travel for a few years. He has never told anyone what happened to bring him back to Starfleet, but he enrolled in the Academy at age 20. He specialized in Security, graduating in the top 20% of his class. He was urged by his professors to switch to the Command track, but he was content to stay in security. He was assigned to USS Khabarovsk, an Excelsior (Improved) class starship as a security officer.

Two years into Khabarovsk's cruise, rumblings of a cloaked neutral zone-based Tal Shiar facility began to bother Starfleet Intelligence. The vessel was assigned by Starfleet Intelligence to recconoiter the Romulan border. A combination of highly specialized mission-specific sensor packages, a skilled science officer, and blind luck allowed Khabarovsk to stuble upon the base. A covert operation was immediately sanctioned by Intel, headed by Khabarovsk's Chief of Security, Hawke's mentor. Hawke was assigned to the team as Master-at-arms. All the Khabarovsk personell assigned to the operation were altered by the ship's medical officer to appear as Romulans to both visual inspection and all but the most invasive medical examinations. The team made their way to the small asteroid where the facility was based, and conducted a messy operation. The actual auspices of the operation are still tightly guarded, but it is known that after the Khabarovsk's Chief Security Officer was killed by the Tal Shiar, Hawke was able to attain marginal completion of the objectives, and, more importantly, snatch the surviving Khabarovsk personnel from under the Romulan's noses. Afterwards, he was recruited by Starfleet Intelligence due to his handling of the situation (and probably also his Esper-blindness), and underwent two years of intensive training and four years of dedicated service. With the Dominion threat looming on the horizon, Intel decicded that it needed a greater presence on the front lines. Many of the best operatives were recomissioned in positions marginally similar to their pre-intel posts, and charged with gathering intellignece in the field against the Dominion. Only the captain of each ship was to know the true identity of the operative, and he/she was to protect that operative's file and cover at any means. Kevin Hawke was re-trained in Tactical Operations and assigned as a Lt. JG to the USS Angelfire in the Chief Tac Officer Position. Hawke was assigned to Angelfire specifically because a large percentage of her crew was telepathic, so his Esper-blindness would protect his cover.
Personalitly: Kevin goes out of his way to be as friendly as he can to whomever he meets, but is vicious when crossed. He harbors few preconceptions, but he tries to avoid empaths and telepaths, as all Starfleet Intelligence officers are encouraged to do. He enjoys 19th and 20th Century history, piloting, women, drink, and maintains a barely-legal ancient weaponry collection.

He makes friends easily, but, as a result of his Intelligence training, has difficulty maintaining close personal relationships. This is evident in his relationships with women-- he revels in affairs, and has never enjoyed a relationship longer than perhaps two months. Though his loyalty to the Federation has never been called into question [if it had, Intelligence would never have even looked at him], he harbors the belief that, since the Federation deems itself above an economy, it will only be a matter of time before an overambitious would-be dictator will make a grab for all of UFP's priceless, yet unpriced resources. He is willing to overlook this perceived shortcoming, though, since there is no better system in place anywhere in the Alpha or Beta Quadrants.
